Ninth Planet Mountain Bike Race

May 17th, 2025 Flagstaff AZ

At Sable, we are always exploring, adventuring and inspired by what surrounds us. We won’t always share the cramps, mechanical’s and shell of humans that these adventures have produced, but we promise our favorites will make the list. This is what we live for and lucky for you after a couple of years of planning and working with Coconino National Forest Service we have come up with what we feel is a worthy adventure.

We introduce to you The Ninth Planet Mountain Race. Why ninth planet, well this is paying homage to Flagstaffs rich history with space exploration, observation, and Pluto’s discovery!

Now for the nuts and bolts, we have two distances, 40-ish mile course that is both challenging and engaging, set with the old school big loop format. While the profile set, is not going to look like huge vert, I assure that after finishing we won’t hear much in the way of “I wish there was more climbing”! Mostly made up of single track, and sections of technical descents with fast flowy AZT mixed in. We feel you will find this to be a very balanced course. Not unlike a mission to the red planet, very exciting for the potential, but you know it's not going to be an easy journey!

The Short course is nearly 20 miles made up of some of Flagstaffs newest trails that have been added to our local network. Making this ideal for those with a little less experience. Not to worry, while the course is shorter, but we haven’t eliminated any of the fun!
